OE Lodge

Welcome to the Old Emanuel Lodge

Our Lodge, number 5399 comes under the United Grand Lodge of England. This site has been created for the benefit of both Masons and non-Masons to provide interested individuals insight into the role of the Old Emanuel Lodge and Freemasonry in general.

In 2000, Old Emanuel Lodge took the decision to allow non O.E's to join our Lodge (previously, membership had been only allowed to past pupils of Emanuel School) and since that time our membership has grown substantially. We still however maintain close links with Emanuel School and each year sponsor a prize which is presented by the current Worshipful Master.

Many people wonder about the history and day to day workings of Freemasonry. For many years it was clouded in mystery but in recent times we have been explaining to the public at large the benefits that derive to an individual from being a Freemason and to the community from Freemasonry

The individual will benefit from enjoying the company of like minded men in a fraternal & social environment; sharing in a common philosophy for the charitable benefit of the community and having a shared purpose in life to accept and teach a high moral code.

In the community, the greatest awareness of our work can be from our charitable support. We realise that charitable support must be provided to major / national and local/community based projects if the whole community is to benefit.

Membership of Old Emanuel Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England is open all to free men of good character, over the age of 21 years (except in exceptional circumstance) who have been proposed into a Lodge by a known member.

If you are interested in becoming a Freemason, in the first instance please contact
